Parenting Classes offered in collaboration with the Paulding County Department of Job and Family Services
Parenting Workshops
The OSU Extension Office facilitates Parenting Workshops several times throughout the year. We offer four separate courses that are designed to meet different children's age levels.
Baby & Me Time - offers new parents an opportunity to spend quality time with their infants, learn developmental stages, infant massage techniques and basic infant care. This class will be offered on an as needed basis.
1,2,3,4 Parents - designed to help parents of young children, from the ages 1-4, understand the developmental stages of their children and learn basic discipline methods.
Active Parenting Now - teaches parents of children between the ages 2-12 how to develop self-esteem, responsibility, and cooperation in their children as well as teach effective discipline methods that are useful in today's Democratic society.
Active Parenting of Teens - encourages parents to develop open communication lines and good decision making in their teenagers as well as teaching effective discipline methods.
Also available is information regarding:
1~2~3 Magic - a simple discipline technique to use with children under 12 years old and those with Attention Deficit Disorder.
Smart Steps - useful information and worksheets for anyone who is parenting children other than their biological children.

Parenting Calendar
Parenting the First Year Newsletter
First-time parents in Paulding County are offered a series of twelve newsletters titled Parenting the First Year. Each month of the infant's first year, the parents receive an age relevant newsletter offering information on language, development, nutrition, health, safety, child care and much more. They are provided through the generous support of the Paulding County Department of Job and Family Services and the Welcome Home program at the Paulding County Hospital.
